Wandering Black Bear
This big guy measures about 19x9 inches, and is cut from quarter-inch thick birch (sometimes maple), which is then painted black. This piece is left uncovered while cutting, to give the snout the nice burnt orange look, which is then covered while painting!

From the Artist
This piece is dreamy to look at. He has a river with a black bear standing in it, looking at the two fish in the river. It has a moose in it's leg, and a bear hibernating in it's back end. Near the river you'll find a bug and a grub, some of the black bear's favorite snacks. He's got alaskan bluberries and salmonberry near his hear heart, and grass in his back end (which they also enjoy munching on).
